Sadly, the evolution of today's audio is leading to its devolution.

One can never reach the sound envisioned unless realizing this truth.

Moreover, the current situation of audio market has reached to the point of abnormality.


Letfs put things in perspective-Today, we expose ourselves in the world of convenience, where technology, hardware, tangibles,intangibles, and services are available at a tip of finger. You name it...cellular phone, remote control, elevator, power steering, water faucet, etc... Money can buy essentially anything, from information, grocery, to clothing.

However, there is a cost we pay in exchange- Twenty-first century human kind may have lost the touch of sensing the outside world with its already gifted body sensors from overly "outsourcing" its functions to the others.


Todayfs audio is glifelessh


The sound quality of audio has followed the same path. The spec and technology of audio have improved dramatically over time but the sound quality has shown an inverse correlation. That is, the sound has turned frail, unable to deliver the sensation of musicality. In another word, the music is glifeless.h

The situation with speaker development best illustrates our point


Decades ago, one watt was sufficient to drive 100dB while most of todayfs speakers can at the best drive up to 80dB or so level.  Thanks to the advent of cheap and powerful transistor based amplifiers,  loud volume can be achieved without powerful speakers. This is analogous to the power steering wheel of automobile - Today, a woman with no arm strength can steer a truck. In the past,  only a men with powerful arm strength could steer a truck.


Insulator


Insulator that does not increase volume after installation is similar to low efficiency speakers. If an audio system is not conditioned right, listening for more than an hour could cause severe fatigue from sensing stinging peaks at certain frequency range.

Only fat cables can drive powerful sound-This is another common outcome of low efficiency speaker. This is like an fuel inefficient cars running with leaking fuel. You encounter a dead end when you make such choice. One ends up paying high price for a small improvement.

In the past, we dedicated most of our resources on how to make difficult speaker improve, mainly concentrating on the principles #1 and #2.

Very unfortunately, however, our conclusion is that there is so few case of #1 and the most of them fell under case #3. Since we reached this conclusion in 2007, we have changed the way we approach audio equipments.

Our conclusion: The very heart of the problem of audio equipment lies in inefficient speakers.

The experience and knowhow we have build up over, such as (1) long-term personal experimentation experiences with diverse range of speakers, (2) a knowhow built up through countless audio clinic sessions throughout Japan, are a major asset we embrace.

We reached to the level where we can differentiate all audio systems as if there is a finger print attached to each.

We pay a great deal of attention to the voice of our customers, from their compassion towards music to other aspects of customerfs life.

Problem on software side


The quality of recent recording is intolerable.Our measurement of sound quality with Rosenkranz reference system reveal that the newer recordings sounds nothing like the original sound source.

The overuse of compression, limiter and reverbs upon mixing generates gunnaturalh synthesized sound, not found in nature. The quality standards at the production should be questioned.

We believe the industryfs tendency to believe that newer equipments always leading to better sound should deserve a second thought.

Rosenkranz is the top runner in the audio accessory industry-we have been delivering new and original products for the past decades in Japan market.

Selecting right audio equipments to achieve good sound require mastery but even harder to achieve is being able to tell pros and cons of accessories. Any accessory, like anything else, possess two-sides: pros and cons. One must pay a careful attention not to cause cancellation effect when install multiple number of accessories. The last thing we want is to have a cancellation of positives and negatives of accessories, diminishing the stream of music.
